Assignment 3 NG: Crimes Reported by DPS

Crimes Reported by DPS |Create infographics

This is an infographic showing the change in trends on crimes reported by Syracuse University’s Department of Public Safety in the last five years. I received this data by request from DPS, because they are required to disclose this information through the Clery Act, but it is not posted publicly on their website (unless it was in the last 60 days.)

From this graph, we can see that alcohol violations and larceny make up more than half of the crimes reported by DPS, consistently. It’s interesting that alcohol violations and larcenies tend to fluctuate every year with which one is the most reported crime.

The years where larcenies were the highest are 2011, 2012, 2014. The years where alcohol violations was highest in 2010 and 2013.
The graph tells two main things about crime at Syracuse University: students get drunk a lot, but not as much as they get robbed.
