New York’s solar industry is now the fourth largest in the United States, according to a national report published in February. Also, the growth of solar in New York State has increased more than 300% from 2011 to 2014. I am quite interested at taking a look at this booming industry and seeing how it works reflects the savings of energy and how it influences the lower-income families’ energy savings.
New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo promotes “Reforming the Energy Vision” strategy last year to build a clean and affordable energy system for New Yorkers. This is a new project for the New York State to work on and I would like to explore how the solar energy campaign activities happened around New York State and how the solar panels are distributed in Syracuse area.
I need the data of the exact solar panel’s locations in New York state and the cost of the solar panel project. I also need the data from the solarize campaign, which could be retrieved from New York state of opportunity of NY-SUN program.
I also would like to do a CartonDB map showing the sunlight and the use of solar energy around the nation. I want to acquire data by the National Climate Data Center.
If I could not get the data through those websites I mentioned above, I am considering working on Syracuse new born babies’ death rate in comparison with white people and minorities.
