Below is a graph representing the unemployment rates in Onondaga County since 2006. The original data was retrieved from New York State’s official site.
In the years leading up to the 2008 Recession, the unemployment rate was decreasing. When it hit in 2008, however, there was a sharp increase in the percentage of unemployed. The rate continued to increase through to 2010. It wasn’t until 2013 that the county saw a significant decrease in the percentage of unemployed. In 2016, the unemployment rate has almost returned to that of the rate before the Recession.
